I made climbing-portal.com because I became pretty unhappy with the linklist at my main site climbing.de. I permanently received requests for inserting new links (which I did) but couldn't really categorize them. In addition I was lacking further information about the sites and only the URLs by themselves weren't really informative. Therefore I decided to develop a somewhat "professional" searchengine. Of course there are many freeware tools to be found in the net, but I guess you learn more by doing it all by yourself ;-) In addition I wanted to have something multilangual and extensible. Now you see the result right in front of you and I surely hope to have come somewhat close to the goal.

The Site has been developed on an Acer 506T Notebook (433 Intel Celeron, 64MB RAM) running SuSE Linux 7.0 with KWrite 2.0.
I used Apache 1.3.12, PHP 4.0.6, mySQL 3.23.32 and GIMP 1.1.24.
